Can you continue to be a Redskins fan?

The Washington Redskins organization is in turmoil and does not seem to be getting out of it anytime soon. Many life long Redskins fans now are questioning, can they continue to be a fan of this team? Do I jump ship to another team?

It starts at the top of the organization and I hate to break it to Skins fans, Dan Snyder is not going anywhere we can only hope that they move on from Bruce Allen. Or at least Bruce take a backseat and let someone handle all the football operations. As we head into the last week of the season where FEDEX field will be filled with majority Eagles fans. Where do we go from here? The only thing that will satisfy this fan base will be winning and it looks like we have a long way to go..to many questions to be answered..

DC Is a Hockey Town

Yesterday it became clear that DC knows how to handle themselves in the big spotlight. From the down to business opening of game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals, the intensity of the crowd throughout the game, and the after game crowds that flooded the streets of DC.


There was talking going into the finals that the DC sports fans would not know hot to handle themselves. Well, I think after the spectacle that was seen last night by national television all of those doubters have been proved wrong.


I hope the city can keep it up for another very important game 4 on Monday night. Rock the Red.

Nationals keep making moves...

The Nationals continue to add pieces to their 2017 World Series run. The latest addition is Phillies Howie Kendrick. This was a bit of a surprise move from Rizzo and the Nats. Everything you were hearing was pointing to bullpen help. Kendrick will be a good utility outfielder/infielder that will bring added value to the bench. And good play a bigger role if Werth continues to struggle getting back on the field. Kendrick is not having too bad of a season batting over .300 this year.

Something tells me the Nationals will add another bullpen piece before the deadline...

Caps Make the Playoffs!

So the Caps are once again in the playoffs. Is this the year they take the next step and give the D.C. Fans what they have been waiting for??

It looks like it..this has been the strongest push from this team at a "let's go all in" season then the past couple of years. They have the pieces in place on both offense and defense. Don't forget they still have the best player in the business , Alex Ovechkin. We will see how the rest of the league finishes and what the playoff matchups look like. My bold prediction is this is the year they get it done with this combination of players and Trotz in charge.

Don't get me wrong we will all still be holding are breath come playoff time. Rock the Red!

Go Dallas Cowboys!

I hate to say it but if you like the Redskins, you like the Cowboys tonight on Monday Night Football. The Redskins need the lions to lose to continue to increase their odds of making the playoffs in back to back seasons. I'm not saying you need to go buy a Dak jersey to wear tonight but keep an eye on it and hope that Jerry decides to keep the starters in the whole game. Remember this would have been a lot easier and you wouldn't have had to root for the terrible Texas team if the Redskins wouldn't have laid a total dud against the Panthers.

Kirk Cousins should get multi-year contract

kirk Cousins has proven he is worth a top tier QB contract in the NFL. Over the last two prime time games he has six touchdowns and over 800 yards passing. He is already climbing the Redskin history books with the kind of stats he has been putting up. The Redskins need to make this a priority right when they can start to negotiate. Pay the man he will bring success to a franchise and city that has desperately been waiting for years. Let's not worry about the QB anymore and focus on the defensive side of the ball. #HTTR

The DMV in the playoffs..

As a long time DC sports fan this is a great time for this sports town. The Caps and Wizards are both in the playoffs and have won a game. Now it's time for this city to make the next step in the playoffs and make it to the next round. If your under the age of 25 you have been waiting your entire life to feel what a championship parade or confetti falling from the ceiling feels like. Maybe this will be the time. So, cheer as loud as you can, yell at your TV, and do what you have to do to get these teams to victory. You never know when a time like this will come around again!

March Madness

Hows your March Madness bracket? Mine is actually doing pretty well, it ranks 6,000. I know that doesn't sound that great but keep in mind there were 11.57 million brackets that were entered into the ESPN Tournament Challenge. I think this is what keeps us coming back each March, not just the crazy upsets or buzzer beater shots it's the gambling mentality each of us have. Whether you are in a pool for money or just want to be the top name in your office pool, you will continue to fill out a bracket each March and actually think you might be the first person to complete a perfect bracket. 

Next year take some time and take some chances with your brackets if you want to be perfect. Keep in mind two 14 seeds moved on the very first day of the tourney!

Why are we not talking Nationals baseball?

So, the Nationals have won the NL East Division Championship and are on the verge of having the best record in the NL. What is the first thing we hear about? The 1-3 Redskins and how they lost again, but there is hope with Captain Kirk...Trust me I'm a die hard Redskins fan, but let's give the boys in red some love, let's get the Natitude going! We are a little over a week away from October baseball in DC.

So join me, call into radio station, wear your Nationals polos to work, spread the word and best of all do what you have to do to get yourself a playoff ticket..there is nothing like October baseball

Redskins Coaching Options..

Now begins what unfortunately some people call the most exciting time of the Redskins season, the offseason! Here we go again another offseason of unknown, uncertainty, and Skins fans believing next year will be a Super Bowl year.

I think Dan Snyder needs to step back and plan for his new coach. He needs to change the coaching mentality in Washington. This can no longer be the place where coaches go to get a big pay day and continually have below .500 records. Snyder needs to start by hiring a football minded GM and let him decide who will be the next head football coach. But do you really think that Snyder will give up that much control? We will see...

The available coaches are quite intriguing. Did Bill Cowher already meet with Snyder? Will John Gruden give up his ESPN gig? Will RGIII be reunited with his college coach? See who else may be available to get the next head coaching job including what I think will be a great choice, Russ Grim former HOG...

NFC East the best division in Football?

The ongoing debate that will never end is who has the best division in football. Here is my take on where the NFC East stands...

Why the NFC East is the Best:

- This division continues to be competitive. Every year all four teams have a legit chance of taking home a division championship

- The last two years have had a season finally "winner take all" and loser go home game

- The Redskins and Cowboys have arguably the biggest fan bases and the most intriguing franchises in the NFL

- All four teams really hate each other and have a storied rivalry

- All four owners spend more money than any other owner in the NFL

- Some of the most exciting and intriguing players and coaches reside in the NFC East

- The Redskins will have the most exciting off-season in the NFL

Why the NFC East is the Worst:

- The teams are just are not good enough and never can play up to the expectations each year

Whatever you think, I hope your watching football this weekend. Thanks to the NFL we have games that matter in week 17.

RGIII not the same RGIII...

Robert Griffin III started Sunday Night Football out looking like the RGIII of old with a few good runs and scrambles outside the pocket. It seemed that Redskins fans were going to get the old RGIII back and turn the season around, right? Not so fast, RGIII struggles were still evident with multiple over throws and a costly fumble that just about sealed the fate for the Redskins on Sunday night.

It seems that its going to take a lot longer to get the old RGIII back in the burgundy and gold. Maybe he is not like the Adrian Peterson, maybe he is still hurt, maybe he is not as good as we thought? Whatever it is we need to stay behind RGIII and get this season turned around. It's going to take some huge upsets, and multiple winning streaks to keep the season alive..

Nationals Trade for Cubs Outfielder

The Washington Nationals have traded for Cubs outfielder Scott Hariston to bolster their bench. With the Nationals bench struggling and the need for a powerful hitter against left handed pitching Hairston might be the perfect fit. The trade become official this morning according to Adam Kilgore and James Wagner. Check out their story here: Nationals Trade. It is not official yet who the Nationals had to give up to acquire Hariston. Hopefully this is the insurance the Nats needed to get them going in the second half of the season...
